WHAT IS MICRONEEDLING?
Microneedling, also called collagen induction therapy, is an exciting treatment which uses an electronically controlled pen containing tiny needles. The device causes multiple tiny puncture wounds to the skin’s dermis. The result: beautiful, healthy skin.
Great for men and women of all skin types, Microneedling is a quick-recovery solution for those who are not looking for ablative treatments such as laser skin resurfacing.
When you schedule a consultation with our aestheticians at WSkin Studio™, they will work with you to reach your cosmetic goals and personalize your treatment with a selection of tools and products that will offer you the best results. W Skin Studio is equipped with the latest Microneedling technology, SkinPen, producing even better results than standard rollers.
HOW MICRONEEDLING WORKS
Microneedling, also called collagen induction therapy, is performed using a skin roller or electronically controlled pen containing tiny needles. The treatment creates a controlled injury right underneath the surface of the skin.
The effect of microneedling is similar to many other non-surgical skin tightening procedures. The body responds to the microneedling by producing more collagen in the treated area. This dermal injury stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin.
Benefits of microneedling include:
- Only 24-48 hours of recovery
- No known negative side-effects
- Extremely high absorption of any type of topical treatments
- Collagen induction through controlled mechanical stimulation of the dermis
- Safe for use on thin skin
- No permanent damage to the skin
- Pain-free procedure
- No bleeding, infection, discoloration or other complications on the treated area
- Can be used on areas of the skin where laser resurfacing can not reach
With a series of treatments, microneedling has been shown to:
- Smooth fine lines and deep wrinkles
- Improve skin structure
- Relax scars
- Improve depressed acne scarring
- Smooth cellulite
- Improve old surgical scars
- Minimize the appearance of stretch marks
YOUR MICRONEEDLING PROCEDURE. WHAT TO EXPECT.
First, a medical professional applies a numbing cream on the treatment area. After the numbing cream sets into the skin, a rejuvenating serum is applied to the treatment area. The microneedling device is then rolled across the area, puncturing the skin in a specific pattern. As each fine needle punctures the skin, it creates a channel or micro-wound which creates a controlled injury on and below the skin’s surface. The injury triggers the body to fill these micro-wounds by producing new collagen and elastin, and by stimulating skin cell regeneration.
IS MICRONEEDLING PAINFUL?
When performed by a skilled expert, there should be minimal pain. Prior to your treatment, we administer a topical numbing cream to minimize any pain or discomfort.
