TEAR TROUGH TREATMENT
Early changes around the eyes—lower lid bags—can sometimes be treated with fillers alone to fill the hollow and blend the fullness of the lower lid bag with the hollow that lies beneath it. An in-office procedure that takes 30 to 40 minutes. The treatment lasts for years.
We’ve been concealing under eye puffs and helping avoid surgery in some of our patients for 15 years.
WHAT IS THE TEAR TROUGH?
It’s a hollow where tears would collect when they run down your face unwiped. Some say that the tear trough is an illusion created by shadows in the bulging lower lid, or a surface shape hollow under the lower lid due to thinning of skin and increased visibility of the cheekbone that supports the lower lid.
The tear trough actually represents an area of muscle and ligamentous attachment at the bone of the orbital rim. As we age, it hollows as the volumes of the cheeks diminish and begin to hang.
Augmenting this area with hyaluronic acid filler conservatively lessens the hollowing and makes the lower lid appear more youthful.
TEAR TROUGH INJECTION WITH A BLUNT CANNULA
Done in the office with local anesthesia, the procedure takes about 30 minutes. The delicate tissues of the eyelids can bruise, but concealing makeup can be used (even in men!) 24 hours after the procedure and patients can look presentable with an improved look almost immediately.
The tear trough is the dark hollow that forms between the lower eyelid and the cheek.
DILUTE FILLER TO THICKEN THE SKIN AND HELP DARK CIRCLES UNDER THE EYES.
We’ve found that using filler diluted with PRP and a needle under the eyelid skin can help with under eyelid darkness. Bruising is not uncommon with this technique. See our results
