Microneedling + RF in Philadelphia

Morpheus8 and INTRAcel combine radiofrequency and microneedling to fractionally remodel and tighten the skin of the face, neck and chest. Morpheus8 can also contour areas on the body and has the ability to penetrate deeper into the skin than any other microneedling RF device at 4 mm on the face and 7 mm on the body. Our first microneedling + RF device, INTRAcel, works similarly but penetrates at a depth of 2 mm. INTRAcel is a great alternative to Morpheus8.

How does Microneedling + RF work?

Delivering energy deep into the skin and subcutaneous tissue, the needles cause micro-injury to the skin while delivering heat. This heat firms the skin and boosts collagen production for both immediate and ongoing repair. As a result, the body’s natural healing mechanism works to repair these micro-injuries, replacing damaged cells and improving the skins health and appearance.

What to expect?

While numbing cream provides for comfortable treatment in most cases, local anesthesia may be needed for deeper Morpheus8 treatments. As soon as the target area is sufficiently numb, your treatment can begin following a spot test to check for adverse reaction.

Our highly trained aestheticians will move the Microneedling + RF device over the treatment area, applying even treatment throughout the target area. Depending on the size of the treatment area, your session may take 15 minutes up to an hour. While there is no actual downtime after your treatment, you may experience redness, swelling, and itching for one to three days after your treatment. You will be able to apply makeup one day after treatment.

You may notice a difference in the condition of your treated skin within a few days of treatment. However, most patients report the most significant difference in their skin’s elasticity about 3 weeks after treatment. Results will continue to develop for about three months as collagen remodeling takes place.

The number of treatments you will need to reach desired results depends on the condition of your skin before treatment, your treatment goals, and how your skin responds to treatment. Most patients undergo 3 treatments. Results from Microneedling + RF typically last about one year. At this point, you may need another series of treatments or 1 touch-up session to maintain your results.

What are the risks and side effects?

Microneedling + RF is minimaly invasive and involves minimal risks and side effects. However, you may experience swelling, bruising, redness, itching, scabbing or bleeding following treatment. These minor issues typically resolve within a few days of treatment. To reduce the risk of bruising, 48 hours prior to treatment, discontinue the use of aspirin, ibuprofen, excedrin, fish oil and vitamin E.
