Fill Hollows and Stimulate Collagen for Long-Term Skin Rejuvenation

Radiesse® contains an active ingredient called calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) .  This agent was initially thought to be a permanent filler,  but experience has shown it instead to be a  powerful filler when injected under the skin, but when resorbed, stimulates the body’s own collagen production. The CaHA is suspended in a nonallergenic injectable gel that allows it to be injected smoothly. Radiesse® works very powerfully to fill hollows and conceal many of the changes associated with facial aging. Radiesse® produces these changes in quick, in  relatively painless in office treatments that produce instantaneous improvements with little in the way of downtime. The treatment lasts for up to a year and the collagen stimulation benefits last much longer.

How are Radiesse® treatments performed?

At our initial consultation, we determine the exact areas to be augmented after looking at old photographs and comparing them to photographs of you on the day of the consult.

We treat your skin with a topical anesthetic.   We add local anesthetic as necessary to dilute the Radiesse® in order to produce a comfortable injection experience.  The treatment takes 20-45 minutes, based on the amount of filler you require.  Once injected, bruising is possible and if it occurs, it is treated with light or laser therapy.

What is Hyperdilute Radiesse®?

Because of the stimulatory properties of Radiesse® in producing collagen growth, it is thought that dilution of Radiesse® with both saline and local anesthetic allows it to spread more evenly and improve the texture and firmness of the skin.

The process of adding Radiess to the undersurface of the skin to change it’s texture is becoming increasingly popular. Hyperdilute Radiesse® can be used in the neck, the decollete and in other areas of the body where skin has lost its thickness and tone. The improvement is gradual, but is long lasting.

What Can I Expect with  Hyperdilute injections?

As with Sculptra injections, improvement can be expected over an approximately six week period. The injections should be repeated two to three times in order to obtain maximum benefit. Patients return every one to two years for additional treatments to “top off” the improvements that they have already made.
