Our passion lies in helping you achieve natural and refined results, ensuring that you look like the best version of yourself. By blending artistry, science, and cutting-edge techniques, we address the sculptural changes caused by aging, the elements, and gravity—delivering subtle transformations that never look overdone.

What is Liposculpture?

Liposculpture is a minimally invasive procedure that uses fat from other areas of your body—such as the abdomen, thighs, or love handles—and meticulously injects it into the face to restore lost volume and enhance facial contours. This natural approach offers longer-lasting results compared to synthetic fillers. It brings the added benefit of body contouring in the areas where the fat is removed. Once purified, the fat cells are injected to enhance volume in the cheeks, jawline, under-eye hollows, and other regions with lost volume for a more balanced and rejuvenated appearance.

Milifat, Microfat, and Nanofat in Liposculpture

In liposculpture, fat grafting is a refined process that enhances facial features by utilizing different types of fat—milifat, microfat, and nanofat. Each type of fat serves a unique purpose, allowing for a highly customized rejuvenation.

  • Milifat involves larger fat particles and is typically used for structural support in areas like the cheeks and jawline, restoring volume and creating more defined contours.
  • Microfat consists of smaller fat particles and is ideal for more delicate areas of the face, such as the under-eye region and lips, to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Nanofat is processed into the smallest particles, containing growth factors that promote skin rejuvenation and improve texture. It is commonly used to treat skin discoloration, scars, and fine wrinkles.

The fat used for liposculpture is harvested through gentle liposuction from areas like the abdomen or thighs. In the operating room, this fat is carefully processed to create milifat, microfat, and nanofat. The harvested fat is first purified by being washed and refined to remove any impurities. It is then divided into various sizes by specialized filtration methods. This ensures that the right type of fat—whether milifat, microfat, or nanofat—is used for the appropriate areas, for the most natural-looking, long-lasting results.

What are the Benefits of Facial Liposculpture?

  • Lasting Results: Unlike temporary fillers, facial fat transfer is a long-lasting solution to facial volume loss due to aging, which can be a cost-effective option in the long run.
  • Dual Benefits: The procedure not only rejuvenates the face but also slims areas like the waist, thighs, or love handles, providing a comprehensive approach to body contouring.
  • Natural Look and Feel: Since your own fat is used, the results look and feel incredibly natural.
  • Improved Skin Quality: Fat grafts contain regenerative properties that can enhance skin texture and improve the appearance of scars, blemishes, and fine lines.
  • No Synthetic Materials: Liposculpture uses your body’s natural fat, with no need for foreign substances or synthetic fillers.

Am I a Good Candidate for Liposculpture?

You may be a good candidate for facial fat transfer in the Philadelphia & Plymouth Meeting area at W Cosmetic Surgery™ if you:

  • Are in good overall health
  • Have signs of aging, such as facial volume loss, wrinkles, or sagging skin
  • Have sufficient fat on the abdomen, thighs, love handles, or another area to harvest
  • Want a natural, long-lasting alternative to dermal fillers or implants
  • Are near your ideal weight and have good skin elasticity
  • Do not smoke

What to Expect During a Facial Fat Transfer Procedure

Facial fat transfer is typically performed under local anesthesia with minimal sedation, a comfortable experience. Dr. Wulc uses a gentle liposuction technique to harvest fat from areas like the abdomen, thighs, or love handles. Once the fat cells are removed, they are carefully processed and purified to ensure high-quality cells are ready for transfer.

The purified fat is then injected into targeted areas of the face using a small blunt cannula (hollow needle). Common areas treated include the cheeks, jawline, and under-eye hollows, as well as to fill scars or skin defects. This precise technique allows for a natural, balanced result that enhances your facial contours without looking overdone. In some cases, Dr. Wulc may add growth factors derived from your blood (PRP) to the fat to improve the survival rate of the grafts further and enhance the overall results.

What is the Recovery?

Recovery from facial liposculpture varies depending on the individual, but most patients take seven to ten days to rest before resuming normal activities. Initial swelling subsides within the first three weeks, but full results become visible after six months, with continued improvement for up to 24 months.

The areas where fat was removed may be slightly swollen for the first few days, and minor fluid leakage may occur. However, since the amount of fat removed is small, most patients notice minimal change in these areas.
